About Ciovo - General Information About Ciovo in Dalmatia - Croatia
Ciovo is a small island located in the Central Dalmatian archipelago with the area of 28.8 km2. It has around 6000 inhabitants and its highest peak is 218 m (Rudine). Ciovo is two kilometers away from Cape Marjan on its southeastern part and it's connected with the mainland by a drawbridge in Trogir. Part of Ciovo actually belongs to the town of Trogir.
The island is covered with pine trees, olives, wine grapes and medicinal herbs. There are five smaller settlements on Ciovo: Arbanija, Slatine, Zedno, Okrug Gornji, and Okrug Donji. The northern part of the island is characterized by sandy and pebbly beaches, and the largest are those in the Saldun bay. The southern side of the island is not that accessible because it is filled with cliffs. Along the western coast are several smaller islands, like Sveta Fumija, Kraljevac, Galerija, known for their cliffs which provide good opportunities for underwater fishing. On the eastern side of the island are smaller beaches, around Slatine and the Supetar Cove.
